Many people are totally unaware of the actual extents of poverty in the world.
I made this blog to help expand awareness and aid people as to what they can actually do about it.
So I guess I should start with a definition of my perspective of social justice. The definition is very varied between people. So here's is my definition:
Social Justice - All people in the world deserve an equal chance to make their place in the world.
To me that means that everyone is entitled to a decent Home, Food, Water, Health and Education. The basics of survival and education to be able to go anywhere.
Many other definitions lean totally towards communism. If communism actually worked it would be awesome. But because of human greed it would not. So I therefore believe in equal opportunity and the provision for the needs for survival.
Poverty is man made, if you want to debate the matter I would happily. But it's often something we would like to deny. Although it's not all man made by us in the western world, a lot of it is. These societies are unable to develop because of the things we do which I will elaborate on at a later date. But there's also the leaders in those countries selfishly taking when we try to help.
But what it comes down to, poverty is created by human greed, full stop.
So what extent is poverty a problem today? Here is a link to one of my favourite videos for opening eyes on the matter:

Hmmmmmm good blog idea!
I don't think I agree that poverty is man made tho - just that man allows it to exist when it can be ended.
Fair point
I guess I will elaborate on this at a later date :P
But man is greedy and setting rules and regulations which African nations do not have the power to overcome. That is pushing them further into poverty.
That right there is man made poverty...
Okay I'll elaborate a bit more
The reason why we need fair trade
Is that companies like cadbury demand the lowest price.
There are soo many producers in africa trying to make a living. Cadbury will buy products from the cheapest middlemen. Which goes back to the producers who are forced to cut costs to maintain a good standard of living.
To cut costs they have slave labour and child labour! And with the lower price for their product they lose income.
Again man made poverty from greed
But I truely welcome your commment Duncan :) Much more to come on issues like this :p
I think poverty is man made.
Why?
Because I think our imperfect world is all rooted in sin.
Sin sin sin:P(to the tune of Dennys)
But, for that reason, I don't think we can ever "eradicate" poverty; until Jesus comes that is.
God still calls us to help others though, as it shows God's light, in our dark, sinful world.
Bla.
:P
Well greed is a form of sin so yeah agreed :P
